About Us

Advocating for Children and Families through Education and Policy Reform

Our Mission is To prevent child abuse by informing and advising all three branches of the United States government—the Legislative, Executive, and Judicial—along with international organizations, the public, and parents about the realities of child abuse and the most effective ways to prevent future harm. We provide clear, factual information and practical guidance to help ensure laws, policies, and everyday decisions better safeguard every child.

According to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ Children’s Bureau, child protective services identified approximately 558,899 children as victims of abuse and neglect in the U.S. in 2022. According to the World Health Organization, over half of all children aged 2–17 worldwide—more than 1 billion children—experience some form of violence each year, including physical, sexual, and emotional abuse, neglect, and exploitation.

Our Vision: A world where every child is safe from abuse, neglect, and exploitation, supported by informed governments, vigilant communities, empowered parents, and justice systems that consistently protect the best interests of children. We envision legal and child-protection systems in the United States and around the globe that consistently prioritize children’s rights, listen to children’s voices, and act decisively to prevent harm before it occurs.

As part of our work, the Institute regularly provides reports and reminders to all three branches of government, the World Health Organization, and other organizations dedicated to child welfare. We are equally committed to educating the public and parents on what to look for in their homes, schools, and communities, as well as what to watch for in the courts and legal processes that affect children, so they can recognize warning signs, ask informed questions, and advocate effectively.
